City Sports Academies
City Sports Academies is a sports programme aimed at young Londoners aged 8-18, living in the most deprived housing estates in the tri boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, and Westminster. Sports sessions are held in the evenings in the week, giving young people the chance to make friends and get involved in Multi-sports right on their doorsteps, for free. The aim is to combine sport, education and life skills to foster positive behaviour, improve community cohesion and reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.
City Sports Academies deliver workshops and sports sessions to help inspire disadvantaged children and young people across London. The Trust supports and mentors the young people to fulfil their true potential by using sport as a tool for positive change in their education and behaviour, enabling them to become positive members of the community. Throughout the Project we give the young people the opportunity to try new sports from tennis, basketball, athletics, football, handball and multi-sports games, which we give them basic knowledge of.
City Sports Academies engages over 350 young people per week, we hold workshops quarterly at each site which cover topics such as: nutrition, knife education, mental health and a sports activator course.
Though City Sports Academies we get local residents volunteering and give them the opportunity to enrol in a wide range sport qualification training courses, which increase knowledge and employment opportunities by improving coaching skills, confidence and self-esteem.
