Urban Athletics
We kick started our Urban Athletics program on Sunday the 16th at the W12 Fest! It was a fantastic day, with over 250 people joining in and using our pop up track. We were lucky enough to have the wonderful GB athlete, Nigel Levine join us for the day, where he helped show the kids how to become a champ as well as teaching us a trick or two!

We have got two sessions running throughout the summer and then weekly, with one being in White City estate and the other at Townmead estate. These two estates are based in the top 10% in the UK in terms of deprivation, with high crime rates and are both in the top 5% for income deprivation. We are trying to show young people how fun and exciting athletics can be and not just traditional and sometimes intimidating activities. In addition, we are giving young people a structured and safe environment within their estate. We are linking all our athletics sessions with the 2017 London World Championships to help inspire young people, with opportunities for them to go to the watch the World Championships live!
