Over the past 6 months, our Place2play programme has gone from strength to strength.
We have utilised 15 London open spaces and parks across Brent, Ealing, RBKC, Wandsworth and LBHF. Thus turning them into place2play sporting hubs. The content of sessions includes fun games that emphasises developing children’s agility, balance and coordination skills. Consequently, parents are even starting to get involved in the session itself. This has had a greater long term impact as now parents are beginning to replicate the games learnt in the session by themselves within their spare time. Thus creating more active west London families.
We are now focusing on delivering play activities specifically to residents of White City. This begun over the summer period where we were delivering weekly play sessions at Hammersmith Park and Wormholt Park. This was a romping success as we had over 50 families participating in this timeframe, averaging 10-15 families per session.
Special mention goes to Anela who has attended all of the White city place2play park sessions. This is a terrific effort and it has been very rewarding seeing her develop her sporting skills as well as her confidence first-hand.
Unfortunately, the winter months came in full force. Causing many concerning parents to state “what is going to happen to the session when the weather and light becomes too bad to play”. Thankfully Father Richard came to the rescue offering his fantastic and very welcoming warm hall for us to carry on the sessions. Thank you father Richard you have really embraced our slogan “That every person should have an inspirational Place to play”. To summarise it has been fantastic to see some many young people grow and learn new skills from the sessions as well as seeing so many local families coming together and establishing new friendships.
Bring on place2play 2020.
